March has rounded out a strong first quarter for 2026, exceeding last month’s exceptional sales volume and breaking through the half-century barrier, with 53 residential house sales recorded for the month. In total, there were over 100 sales when taking into account sections, lifestyle properties, and apartments.
The median house price for the month eased slightly to $1,525,000, reflecting a higher proportion of entry-level sales. There were, however, four sales over the $4 million mark, two of which had been on the market for around a year, reinforcing the momentum now emerging in the upper end of the market.
Section sales were particularly strong, with 39 transactions, largely driven by new titles issued at Pembroke Heights, located beside Northlake. Five apartment sales — the majority within the Riverside Residences in Albert Town — highlight continued turnover in this more affordable segment of the Wanaka market.
